The invention relates to a method for producing compressed air foam for fighting fires. The method has the following steps: supplying a mixture of water and foaming agents into a mixing chamber (11; 21) of a foaming section (10; 20) via a supply line (12; 22), said supply line (12; 22) being equipped with a regulating device (14; 24) by means of which a volumetric flow rate of the mixture can be regulated; supplying compressed air into the mixing chamber (11; 21) via a compressed air line (13; 23), said compressed air line (13; 23) being equipped with an additional regulating device (15; 25) by means of which a volumetric flow rate of the compressed air can be regulated; producing compressed air foam in the mixing chamber (11; 21), wherein the mixture of water and foaming agents are foamed in the mixing chamber (11; 21) using the compressed air; and discharging the compressed air foam from the foaming section (10; 20) into a dispensing section (30; 40) using a mixing pressure regulator (17; 27) by means of which a mixing pressure is regulated in the mixing chamber (11; 21). The dispensing section (30; 40) is equipped with a pressure measuring device (31; 41), by means of which a pressure in the dispensing section (30; 40) is detected, and the pressure measuring device, as well as the regulating device (14; 24) and the additional regulating device (15; 25), is coupled to a controller (26), and the volumetric flow rate of the mixture of water and foaming agents and/or the volumetric flow rate of compressed air is regulated by the controller (26) on the basis of the detected pressure in the dispensing section (30; 40). The invention further relates to a device for producing compressed air foam for fighting fires.
