XENON-BASED INHALABLE DRUG TO FIGHT MEMORY IMPAIRMENT CAUSED BY A LOSS OF CHOLINERGIC NEURON FUNCTION

The invention relates to a gaseous drug including xenon gas for use in treating impaired cholinergic synaptic transmission in humans. Impaired cholinergic synaptic transmission causes disease of the central nervous system of said humans, more particularly memory impairment during normal or premature aging of the brain in said humans. The proportion of xenon is between 10 and 80% by volume, preferably between at least 20% by volume and/or no more than 75% by volume. The invention also relates to a drug combination including such a xenon-gas-based drug and at least one NMDA receptor antagonist in liquid or solid form, such as memantine, nitromemantine, amantadine or ifenprodil.
