The present invention provides a method and device for notifying and determining DMRS ports or a mapping relationship. The method comprises: a sending end sends an indication message to a receiving end in a transmission mode, and the sending end indicates assignment information about DMRS ports or a mapping relationship by means of the indication message, the indication message comprising at least one of the following: radio resource control (RRC) signaling; physical layer new data indication (NDI) bit; and DMRS pilot scrambler configuration information (nscid), used for resolving the problem of influence on performance of an MU-MIMO system caused by lower channel estimation performance due to limited orthogonal DMRS ports for MU-MIMO transmission and high MUI interference after increment of a total number of MU-MIMO transmission layers, thereby increasing orthogonal DMRS ports for MU-MIMO transmission on the basis of improving base station configuration flexibility during MU-MIMO transmission, effectively inhibiting the MUI interference during channel estimation, and improving channel estimation performance.
