Disclosed are a method and apparatus for creating a circle of friends, and a communications method and apparatus based on the circle of friends, which enable users to establish friendships conveniently and fast. The method for creating a circle of friends comprises: obtaining identifiers of all users accessing a network via a common first Access Point (AP); and generating, according to the obtained identifiers of all the users, a circle of friends corresponding to the first AP. The technical solution in embodiments of the present invention enables users to establish friendships conveniently and fast by creating a circle of friends with all the users accessing a network via a common AP. Moreover, the social connections are established on the basis of an AP, and therefore cannot be hacked by users using a plurality of cell phones or the like and do not reveal contacts of users or other privacy data, thereby improving user experience for the users.
