The invention describes a method and a system for maintaining a measuring station in a plant using process automation technology, comprising at least a multiplicity of field devices (F_i, F₂, F₃) which are situated in a storage facility (1), a database (DB) for storing a product type (P_i, P₂) of each of the multiplicity of field devices (F_i, F₂, F₃) and respective device features (GM₁, GM₂, GM₃, GM₄) of the multiplicity of field devices (F_i, F₂, F₃), and a computing unit in which a replacement matrix is implemented, which replacement matrix accesses the database (DB) and can read, store and/or assign data there and calculates a suitability evaluation for each of the multiplicity of field devices (F₁, F₂, F₃).
