The invention relates to a steam turbine and to a method for cleaning steam turbines. In the method, a plasma is passed through an aqueous cleaning liquid in an activation step and then said cleaning liquid is evaporated. Even poorly soluble salt coverings are effectively removed from the turbine blades by means of the plasma-activated wet steam. The method can be used during ongoing operation of the steam turbine. In addition, a device for producing the active wet steam is described, which can be installed with a steam turbine or, for example, can be retrofitted in the case of existing steam power plants.
