A method for quantitatively distinguishing origins of nephrite comprises the following steps: 1) preparing samples of nephrite of which the origins are known; 2) quantitatively testing the content of trace elements of the samples, and grouping test points into a "training group" and a "testing group"; 3) carrying out significance level analysis on the content of the trace elements so as to test whether there is a statistical difference between different origins or not; 4) judging every two pieces of data in the "training group" by utilizing a binary iteration linear discriminate analysis (IB-LDA) method, and testing the feasibility of the method by using the "testing group"; and 5) predicting the origins of "samples to be tested" by using the IB-LDA. The origins of nephrite are quantitatively distinguished based on a binary iteration linear discriminate analysis for trace elements; conventional synchronous comparison of multiple groups is simplified into pairwise comparison, thereby not only obtaining a discrimination probability, relative to other regions, of each origin, but also remarkably improving the discrimination ability of a discrimination function; and compared with a naked eye qualitative discrimination method and a conventional linear discriminate analysis method, the method has obvious advantages.
