The invention relates to novel methods for determining the enantiomeric excess of chiral compounds in accordance with the luminescent characteristics thereof, with the ability to use a wide variety of techniques, including luminescent probing. Specifically, the present technical solution relates to spectral methods for determining the enantiomeric excess of chiral compounds without the use of any external asymmetric auxiliary agents, dissolving agents or carriers, and without determining a change in radiation polarization. The different luminescence characteristics of chiral compounds may change drastically depending on the enantiomeric excess thereof. When chiral substances to be analyzed are not luminescent in and of themselves, it may be most convenient to use achiral luminescent probes, the ions of lanthanoids and of other elements. The dependence of luminescence characteristics on enantiomeric excess may be used for the chiral analysis of mixtures of enantiomers. Maximum simplicity, high detection capabilities and sensitivity, and the convenience of using a luminescent approach inform the highly promising nature of the present method for chiral analysis.
