In one example, a shooter training system includes a bulletproof target and a portable monitor that can be attached to a gun or worn by a shooter. The bulletproof target includes multiple sensors to signal a location of a bullet hitting the target and a wireless transceiver to communicate the location of a hit to a system controller external to the target. The portable monitor includes an inertial measurement unit and/or a GPS receiver configured to signal a location of the monitor and a wireless transceiver to communicate a location of the monitor to the system controller.
