A moving object (1) includes: a safety device (13) that cuts off the power supply to a driving unit (11); a safety assist device (20) that assists the safety device (13); and a power supply (12) that supplies the driving unit (11) with electric power. The safety assist device (20) includes: a safety detection unit (21) that detects an object to be detected in a preset safety range (AR); an instruction detection unit (22) that detects an object to be detected in a preset instruction range (SR); a safety determination unit (23) that carries out a safety determination to determine whether to activate the safety device (13) in response to a detection result by the safety detection unit (21); and an instruction determination unit (24) that carries out an instruction determination to determine whether to instruct the moving object (1) to decelerate or stop in response to a detection result by the instruction detection unit (22).
