A linear motion mechanism side seal unit 4: is a linear motion mechanism sealing material capable of sealing fine powders having a diameter of a few micrometers and of operating at low torque during linear motion; is configured to seal gaps provided, relative to a shaft, at the front and rear ends of a slider of a linear motion mechanism which is provided with the shaft and the slider that linearly reciprocates on the shaft; and is characterized in that fiber surfaces of the sealing material made of fiber material are arranged at the front and rear ends of the slider so as to face the shaft side and make contact with the shaft along the cross sectional shape of the shaft.
