Provided are a face-recognition-based advertisement recommendation method and device; a face detection process is started and face data is obtained (101); according to said face data, identity information of the user is obtained from a preset face user table (102); the obtained identity information is uploaded to a server, and said server receives an advertisement file recommended according to the viewing record of the user (103); if there is no viewing record, then during the playback of a video file, it is determined whether the played video file is an advertisement video file; if the determined result is that it is an advertisement video file, then the length of time of the playback of the advertisement file is detected; it is detected that the duration of playback satisfies a preset condition, then the advertisement file is recorded as a valid viewing record; according to the identity information of the user, the obtained identity information and valid viewing record are uploaded to the server. Thus the face-recognition-based advertisement recommendation method and device solve the problem of it being impossible to accurately deliver advertising to each user.
