Disclosed is a method for generating a corresponding sound effect according to a motion state of a basketball. The method comprises detecting and obtaining a magnitude and a direction of an acceleration of a basketball and a motion trail of the basketball; determining a motion of the basketball; and triggering a sound effect corresponding to different motions on the basis of a rule. A system for generating a corresponding sound effect on the basis of a motion state of a basketball is also disclosed. The system comprises a basketball having an accelerometer and a gyroscope disposed therein, and an intelligent terminal for receiving data detected and computed by the accelerometer and the gyroscope. The basketball detects and computes a motion parameter using the method for generating the different sound effect on the basis of the motion state of the basketball. The intelligent terminal uses the method for generating the different sound effect on the basis of the motion state of the basketball to determine a motion of the basketball on the basis of the received data, and triggers a sound effect. The invention is able to detect and compute an ongoing motion of the basketball and assign different sound effects to different motions to make a basketball game more interactive and interesting. The invention can be used in music creation as well.
