A charge and discharge assist device assists in controlling the charging and discharging of an electricity storage device mounted on a vehicle and is provided with: an acquiring unit for acquiring an energy index representing the magnitude of fuel and power consumption for each of a plurality of zones on a travel route of the vehicle; and a specifying unit for specifying, for each of the zones, a controlled variable of the charging and discharging of the electricity storage device on the basis of the energy index acquired by the acquiring unit.
