Disclosed are a method and apparatus for collectively managing the bandwidth of a passive optical network terminal. The method comprises: acquiring request data sent by an optical network unit, wherein the request data comprises multicast joining message data or multicast leaving message data; determining whether the request data meets a pre-set multicast service application condition; and if the request data meets the multicast service application condition, adjusting a unicast data transmission bandwidth according to pre-set configuration data of a multicast data transmission bandwidth, and managing the multicast data transmission bandwidth. On the basis of not changing the hardware architecture of an existing network device, unicast and multicast data bandwidths of an optical network unit may be collectively managed by means of an optical line terminal, so that the method for collectively managing the bandwidth of a passive optical network terminal is simplified, and the cost of resolving the problem of not being able to collectively manage the bandwidth of a passive optical network terminal is reduced.
