The present invention provides a prophylactic and/or therapeutic agent for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and nonacoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) obtained by including lansoprazole. Lansoprazole has been used safely as a therapeutic agent for gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers, and so may be a safe and useful drug for treating NAFLD and NASH as well.
