Disclosed is a tunnel lighting system control device based on real-time oncoming vehicle detection, comprising: a traffic flow detection module comprising a plurality of oncoming vehicle traffic flow detection sub-modules continuously distributed upstream of a tunnel entrance, inside a tunnel, and at a tunnel exit at equal intervals along a road, and used for obtaining traffic flow values of all tunnel lighting sections and transmitting the traffic flow values to a central master control module according to predetermined time periods; the central master control module used for comparing the traffic flow values of a plurality of adjacent and continuous tunnel lighting sections, and then sending a corresponding lighting state control instruction to a tunnel lighting section control module; and the tunneling lighting section control module comprising a plurality of tunnel lighting sub-controllers respectively connected to lighting lamps of the lighting sections in the tunnel. Also disclosed is a tunnel lighting system control method based on real-time oncoming vehicle detection. The present application has high practical adaptability and high operability, saves energy, and can better ensure traffic safety.
