The present invention relates to a method of setting a received wavelength channel by using a wavelength tunable filter of an etalon filter form for a TO-type reception wavelength tunable optical receiver. In a channel setting method of a wavelength tunable optical receiver according to the present invention, a communications channel is cyclically received in a pre-set temperature range, wherein the communications channel is selectively received by using two penetration modes which are adjacent to each other among penetration modes of the wavelength tunable filter. Therefore, all communications channels can be received by being individually selected in the pre-set temperature range, and all FP-type etalon filter can be used regardless of penetration wavelength properties in a specific temperature of the wavelength tunable filter at the same time. Accordingly, manufacturing costs of a product and power consumption can be reduced, and thermostability of a package can be enhanced.
