Disclosed are a device for providing notification of replacement time of a filter for an air purifier, a method for determining replacement time of a filter for an air purifier, and an air purifier operated by the same. A device (100) for providing notification of replacement time of a filter for an air purifier according to an embodiment of the present invention, which is mounted in the air purifier, determines replacement time of the filter for the air purifier by means of an optical measurement device, and notifies a user of arrival of the replacement time of the filter, comprises: an optical measurement device (110) which is disposed adjacent to a filter (10), measures transmitted light intensity of the filter (10) in real time, and transmits data on the measured transmitted light intensity to a control unit (120); and the control unit (120) which calculates a value of a difference in transmitted light intensity of the filter in real time based on data on transmitted light intensity initially measured from an uncontaminated filter and the data on the transmitted light intensity received from the optical measurement device (120), and provides a notice to a user when the value of the difference in the transmitted light intensity exceeds a preset value. In accordance with the device for providing notification of replacement time of a filter for an air purifier according to the present invention, replacement time of the filter for the air purifier can be accurately determined based on the preset value by means of the optical measurement device, and thus waste of a filter attributable to replacement of an uncontaminated filter can be prevented and also a filter can be replaced at appropriate time, thereby maximizing efficiency of an air purifier.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
