A method and apparatus for detecting an intrusion in a smart home security system are disclosed. The intrusion detection device measures the strength of a signal received from a plurality of wireless devices and calculates a change value of the measured received signal strength. The intrusion detection apparatus calculates the received signal strength change probability using the calculated received signal strength change value, and compares the received signal strength change probability with a predetermined threshold value to determine whether or not the intruder intrudes.
