A method for simultaneous communication with a plurality of communication devices in a wireless local area network is disclosed. Each subchannel of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication channel includes assigning first and second subchannels to first and second communication devices, respectively, of two or more second communication devices, And is assigned to two or more second communication devices for simultaneous OFDM transmission to the second communication device. Each downlink OFDM data unit is generated using a corresponding assigned subchannel. The downlink OFDM data unit is transmitted using the corresponding assigned subchannel. At least first and second uplink OFDM data units transmitted by each second communication device in response to a corresponding downlink OFDM data unit are received. The first and second uplink OFDM data units are transmitted on a respective assigned subchannel from each second communication device.
