The present invention relates to a control device for a battery energy storage system, comprising: a parameter editing unit which edits communications parameters and control parameters for controlling the battery energy storage system to an XML file; an XML storing unit which stores the XML file edited by the parameter editing unit; an XML parser which parses the XML file stored in the XML storing unit; a shared memory which provides a memory for communications to a control algorithm processing unit and a communications unit; the control algorithm processing unit which calculates a charge/discharge amount of an energy storage system using the communications parameters and the control parameters parsed by the XML parser, and generates a control command according to the calculated valve; and the communications unit which delivers the XML file parsed by the XML parser to the control algorithm processing unit via the shared memory, and delivers the control command according to the charge/discharge amount calculated by the control algorithm processing unit to a PCS, a BMS, an HMI, a Historian, and a SCADA of the energy storage system. According to the present invention, since the control device for the energy storage system includes the control algorithm-processing unit to perform control according to scales of usage and purposes of use of the energy storage system together with standard communications configuration, thereby quickly responding to various requirements of the BESS. In addition, it is possible to control according to each purpose of use and each scale of usage with only one control device, so multiple control systems are not required. Therefore, it is possible to efficiently operate the energy storage system.
