The present invention relates to a method for classifying music based on a melody which comprises the following steps. A computer apparatus obtains a plurality of character strings corresponding to a melody on a plurality of sound sources. The computer apparatus calculates a distance value representing similarity between a pair of character strings among the plurality of character strings. And the computer apparatus classifies the character string into a plurality of groups by using the distance value on the pair of character strings.
