APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR REAL-TIME MEASUREMENT OF METHANE GAS GENERATED IN RUMEN OF CATTLE

The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for real-time measurement of methane gas generated in the rumen of cattle. The apparatus includes: a flexible tube (10) inserted into the rumen (11: first stomach) of cattle and serving as a path of movement of the methane gas generated in the rumen of the cattle; a relief valve (20); a gas collecting chamber (30); a methane gas sensor (40); data collection and control means (50); and a solenoid valve (60). The method includes: a methane gas measurement preparation step (S1 step) of installing the real-time methane gas measurement apparatus; a methane gas collection step (S2 step) of collecting the methane gas; a methane gas measurement step (S3 step) of measuring the concentration of the methane gas in real time; a measurement data management step (S4 step) of managing the result of the measurement; and a methane gas discharge step (S5 step) of discharging the methane gas in the gas collecting chamber (30) by controlling the solenoid valve (60) after the completion of the measurement of the methane gas concentration. The apparatus and the method allow precise real-time methane gas measurement by allowing the real-time measurement of the methane gas generated in the rumen of the cattle. The precisely measured methane gas generation amount can result in the measurement of the actual amount of greenhouse gas generated by microbes in the rumen during feeding with materials that can be used in various ingredient feeds, food byproducts, and other types of feeds. In addition, the present invention can be used for the development of greenhouse gas-reducing feeds. The real-time methane gas measurement apparatus has a simple configuration, and thus the apparatus can be manufactured at a low cost.
