A liquid crystal display device according to the present invention includes, to simplify calculation logic when a total amount of light reaching an analysis target pixel through local dimming: a dimming value determination unit that determines dimming values for blocks based on an analysis result for data of an input image; a light amount calculation unit that sets an analysis mask of a specific size, selects an analysis target pixel while shifting the analysis mask by unit of one pixel on a virtual display screen having the dimming values for the blocks, and calculates the total amount of light that reaches the analysis target pixel based on the dimming value of valid blocks overlapping the analysis mask and the ratios of the overlapping areas of the valid blocks; and a data modulation unit for compensating for a luminance change due to the dimming values for the blocks by modulating the input image data based on a gain value according to the total amount of the light.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
