The present invention relates to a steel for application in applications requiring high abrasion resistance, high hardness, good corrosion resistance and / or low thermal conductivity, and the steel can be reliably manufactured on an industrial scale. The hardness of the steel according to the invention is at least 56 HRC in the cured state. In order to obtain the steel, the entire microstructure of the steel contains at least 30% by weight of the hard phase consisting of carbide, oxide or nitride particles in addition to the TiC particles. The TiC content of the steel according to the invention is at least 20% by weight. The hard phases are embedded in a matrix, wherein the matrix comprises (by weight%): 9.0 to 15.0% Cr, 5.0 to 9.0% Mo, 3.0 to 7.0% Ni, 6.0 to 11.0% Co, 0.3 to 1.5% Cu, % Ti, 0.1 to 2.0% Al, the balance iron and unavoidable impurities. The combination of properties makes the steel particularly suitable for manufacturing perforated plates or blades necessary for the manufacture and recycling of structural components, particularly plastics.
