The present invention relates to use of an extract of Gynostemma pentaphyllum or gypenoside for treating, preventing or alleviating a memory disorder in Parkinson′s disease. According to the present invention, the extract of Gynostemma pentaphyllum or gypenoside is effective for treating, preventing or improving a memory disorder which may occur due to the progress of Parkinson′s disease or L-DOPA drug treatment. According to the present invention, the extract of Gynostemma pentaphyllum or gypenoside reduces increased activity of the NDMDA receptor (NMDAR) at the hippocampus site, which is a site playing an important role with reference to memory power in the brain of a patient suffering from Parkinson′s disease, increases the decreased activity of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) 1/2 and cyclic AMP-response element binding protein (CREB), thereby showing an effect of improving memory power. Since the extract of Gynostemma pentaphyllum or gypenoside is derived from a naturally occurring material, it causes little side effect upon the application to the human body, unlike the chemically synthesized compounds.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
