The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for treating and preventing cancer and menopausal symptoms of women containing a Prunus cerasoides extract, an activated fraction thereof, a single component isolated therefrom and a pharmaceutically allowable salt thereof. According to the present invention, it was confirmed that the Prunus cerasoides extract, the activated fraction thereof and the single component derived therefrom show female hormone properties, so female hormone materials of the present invention can be used in medicine and health functional food fields for treating and preventing cancer and menopausal symptoms of women.
