The present invention relates to a rotary piston pump having at least two counter-rotating pistons arranged in a pump space on a drive shaft. The rotary piston includes a recess for the drive shaft, respectively. Each drive shaft is arranged and fixed at one end region in the recess of each rotary piston. According to the present invention, the diameter of the drive shaft in the end region can be elastically expanded. In an operating state in which the rotary piston is arranged on each drive shaft, a friction connection is formed between each recess of the rotary piston and the end region of each drive shaft. The present invention also relates to a method for fixing a rotary piston in a rotary piston pump and a method for removing the rotary piston of the rotary piston pump described above.
