The various aspects described herein relate to hybrid automatic repeat / request (HARQ) communications in a wireless network. A first instance of the HARQ communication is transmitted or received on the first set of one or more links. Based on transmitting or receiving a first instance of HARQ communication, the scheduling grant may be received for a second instance of HARQ communication on a second set of one or more links that is different from the first set of one or more links. The second instance of the HARQ communication may thus be transmitted or received on the second set of one or more links based at least in part on the scheduling grant.;
