The present invention relates to a method for diagnosing a failure of a permanent magnet synchronous motor and an apparatus thereof. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a new method and apparatus for diagnosing a failure of a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The method and apparatus for diagnosing a failure of a permanent magnet synchronous motor according to an embodiment of the present invention use a voltage waveform not to drive a synchronous motor of a diagnosis object.
