A vaccine composition for use in inducing an increased antigen-specific T cell-mediated immune response in a subject in need of increased antigen-specific T cell-mediated immune response induction is disclosed. The composition comprises (a) a therapeutically effective amount of an immunogenic protein comprising at least the antigen of the pathogen; (b) a saponin-based adjuvant selected from the group consisting of GPI-0100, Quil A, QS-21; (c) a monophosphoryl lipid A (MPL), and a CpG1826 toll-like receptor (TLR) agonist.
