The present invention relates to a method for converting a rag layer using supercritical water. More specifically, provided is an effective method for converting a rag layer. By using water which is in super critical state a solvent and a reactant, it is possible to convert, via a cracking reaction, asphaltene as a main component of the rag layer into saturated compounds and aromatic compounds which are effective components. In addition, it is also possible to partially reduce impurities such as naphthenic acid, calcium naphthenate, heavy metal (Ni/V), sulfur, alkali metal, alkali earth metal, and iron components.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
