Transmission power based on harmonic versus fundamental wave relationships in medical ultrasound imaging

In medical diagnostic ultrasound imaging, the transmit power is set adaptively. The relative strengths of the harmonic and fundamental wave responses, such as the ratio, are calculated. This relative strength is used to set the transmit power. The transmit power can be set according to ALARA, providing sufficient information for harmonic imaging.
