Systems, computer readable media, and a method relate to determining operating parameters of an inventory of components to be included in a battery. The components may include storage components and electrical components. The method comprises: a step for generating a simultaneous equation describing the appropriate combinations of components at locations within a battery design layout for a battery; and a step for analyzing the simultaneous equation using integer optimization, wherein the simultaneous equation is generated based at least in part on rules and constraints. The integer optimization may optimize one or more objective functions in the simultaneous equation to determine at least one solution for a battery design layout based at least in part on operating parameters, and the at least one solution may include a set of components for positions in a battery design layout for a battery. The method according to the present invention further comprises a step for providing at least one solution through an interface.
