A method and apparatus are provided for performing diblock filtering on an I-local intra prediction. The apparatus includes an encoder for encoding image data using an i-local intra prediction. The encoder 600 includes a diblock filter 665 configured to use with an i-local intra-prediction mode to de-block-filter at least a portion of the picture data encoded using the i-local intra-prediction.;
