A selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system for a ship and a method of arranging the same are disclosed. The SCR system for a ship including a first deck and a second deck which are provided from an upper deck toward a lower part, comprises: an exhaust gas discharge pipe which is connected to a main engine and arranged on the first deck and an upper part of the upper deck via an engine room on the second deck; a reducing agent injecting grid which is arranged on the first deck to inject a reducing agent to the exhaust gas discharged from the main engine; and an SCR reactor which is horizontally arranged on the first deck, and includes a catalyst therein to denitrify the exhaust gas supplied from the reducing agent injection grid under the catalyst.
