According to the invention, as well as by a chain of linear shape it can be produced a high molecular compound having a chain-shaped (star-shaped). In addition, the produced low molecular weight poly (alkylene carbonate) has got a terminal -OH group and the like can be used as a coating agent itself can also be readily used to manufacture the polyurethane by mixing with the isocyanate compound.
