The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for analyzing oceanographic information based on an ocean front. The present invention includes: an ocean color image obtaining unit for obtaining an ocean color image indicating the condition of the ocean in an ocean region; an ocean front extracting unit for extracting an ocean front by applying k-means classification onto the ocean image when a histogram obtained from pixel data configuring the ocean image has a bimodal distribution; and an ocean information analyzing unit for analyzing ocean information related to a corresponding region according to the positions of the ocean fronts distributed in the ocean image. According to the present invention, the ocean front may be accurately extracted from the ocean color image indicating the ocean condition of the ocean region by using color strength, and various ocean information related to the ocean region may be analyzed by using the positions of the extracted ocean fronts distributed in the ocean color image.
