The present invention relates to a user authentication method based on a symmetric key. The method according to the present invention includes the steps of: (a) generating a secret key and a login verification value and storing the generated secret key and login verification value in a smart card; (b) performing verification with the login verification value of the smart card; (c) transmitting a dynamic ID and a first message to a gateway; (d) verifying the dynamic ID; (e) transmitting an encrypted second random number, the dynamic ID, and a second verification value to each sensor; (f) extracting and verifying the second verification value; (g) generating a third verification value and transmitting the third verification value to the gateway; (h) transmitting a second message; and (i) verifying the dynamic ID and a first random number. The present invention improves efficiency by using only a hash function with a very small amount of computation and a symmetric key-based encryption system.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
