A method at a user equipment in an LTE system includes selecting one of a plurality of CDMA systems and signaling an indication (s) of the selected CDMA system to a network element. The network element receives the indication (s) of the CDMA system (s) corresponding to the operation (s) requested by the UE. The network element routes information corresponding to the requested operation (s) to the CDMA system (s). Other network elements in the LTE system signal to the UE indications of mapping of multiple CDMA systems to associated LTE systems in the LTE system (s). Other network elements receive signaling from the UE, including the indication (s) of the selected CDMA system (s) selected by the UE.
