The present invention relates to a method of preparing an organic germanium composition, and an organic germanium composition obtained thereby, wherein the method comprises the steps of: electrolyzing inorganic germanium to prepare germanium ion water; injecting the germanium ion water into a plant medium; growing the plant medium; and extracting organic germanium from the plant medium. The method of preparing an organic germanium composition minimizes loss of germanium material by using electrolysis in ionizing germanium, is easy to employ by using the trunk injection method in injecting the germanium ion water into the plant medium, allows the amount injected into the plant medium to be objectively measured, and has a good recovery rate of organic germanium.
