Disclosed are a novel catalyst for producing a polymer of a pentose-derived furan-based compound and a hexose-derived furan-based compound, and a method for producing the polymer using the catalyst. By using biomass-derived unused sugars along with the catalyst of the present invention, it is possible to increase applicability of components from biomass. Additionally, polymerization using the pentose-derived furan-based compound and the hexose-derived furan-based compound together enables high yield production of compounds with high carbon content with at least 10 carbon atoms through the polymerization.
