FIELD: measuring equipment.SUBSTANCE: values of the radio brightness temperatures are received along four radiometric channels having frequencies of 6.9 GHz of horizontal polarization and 6.9 GHz of vertical polarization, 7.3 GHz of horizontal polarization and 7.3 GHz of vertical polarization, 10.65 GHz of horizontal polarization and 10.65 GHz of vertical polarization. The rain intensity is calculated by using a relationship that takes into account the difference in radio brightness temperatures and the coefficients of a tuned Neural Network. Herewith the numerical values of the mentioned coefficients are obtained by mathematical modelling of the outgoing radiation of the Ocean-Atmosphere system in the conditions of rainfall and carrying out a numerical experiment using Neural Networks as an operator for solving the inverse problem. Moreover, in the modelling of radiation, more accurate models of the attenuation of microwave radiation by molecular gases and liquid-drop moisture in clouds and rainfall are applied, as well as a new parametrization of the ocean radiation.EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of evaluation, expanding the range of the use conditions.1 cl
