FIELD: glass.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to glass industry and can be used for production of high-quality float glass. Proposed method comprises batch routing to the glass furnace, liquid glass melt melting in the melting part of the furnace, liquid glass melt chilling in the chilling part of the furnace, liquid glass melt electric heating at the stage of production. Electric heating is performed by electric heating of liquid glass melt lateral layers of drain unit using one or several pairs of oxide-tain electrodes, connected to a current source, with the width corresponding to thickness of the drain unit side walls. Electrodes are symmetrically located in the drain unit side walls at the height of not more than 0.7 of liquid glass melt level height and at the distance of 20-40 mm from the bottom of the drain unit. Liquid glass melt temperature gradient along the width of drain unit is not more than 5 °C.;EFFECT: technical result is increase in temperature homogeneity of the liquid glass melt in the drain unit and reduction of produced glass thickness.;1 cl, 3 dwg, 1 tbl, 1 ex
