FIELD: electrical engineering.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering, particularly to a method for controlling a switched reluctance motor with stepper free course and without position sensors. The method is intended for a switched reluctance motor with two switches for each phase. When the upper transistor (S1) and the lower transistor (S2) of the main phase switch in the inverter power are locked, the phase switches to the compulsory free course state at negative voltage, and the actual phase current (i) is measured and the lower or the upper transistor are unlocked when the phase current drops to a predetermined threshold level, whereby the phase switches to the natural state of free course at zero voltage, and the phase current starts rising. At the moment when the phase current is increased to the peak value, it is determined that the rotor is in the initial position (b) of the minimum phase inductance section, and the upper and lower transistors of the phase switch are unlocked.;EFFECT: invention provides improved control performance parameters of a switched reluctance motor without position sensors.;4 dwg
