FIELD: metallurgy.;SUBSTANCE: sludge or dust, industrial water, alkali and active bodies in a ratio of 4:7:2:3 are fed as pulp to the vortex layer aggregate (VLA) reactor and treated with a magnetic field at a specified frequency and intensity. Next, the obtained primary solution and precipitate are separated in the apparatus. The secondary pulp is obtained by mixing the precipitate, process water, alkali, active bodies, soda and lime in a ratio 4:7:2.5:3.2:0.3:1.5. Then, the secondary pulp is fed into the VLA reactor, treated with a magnetic field with a predetermined frequency and intensity, to yield a secondary solution, from the primary solution iron oxides are recovered, and zinc oxide is recovered from the secondary solution.;EFFECT: reduced processing time and selective removal of iron and zinc oxides.;1 ex
