A protective net, preferably for lining tunnel walls in mine construction or for securing earth surface layers, is provided with longitudinal elements (11, 12, 13, 14) and stitches (17, 17 ') formed therefrom. The net (10) is reinforced or stiffened by spacers (20, 21) arranged at a distance from one another, by means of which it can be divided into several individual surface sections (18, 19). With these rod elements as reinforcement or stiffening, the net is provided in a simple manner with a two-dimensional stability. In particular, an improved mountability of the network is achieved with these.
