High blood pressure is one of the most frequent diseases. The conventional measurement of blood pressure with a sphygmomanometer is problematic. In the device according to the invention, a highly sensitive sensor detects the pressure fluctuations a subsurface artery at a measuring field, which, by means of the heart 20 – 150 cm is removed. The first pressure fluctuation in the time course of a pulse, the first heart with power maxima in the frequency range between 3 – 300 hz. Far reached later the actual pulse wave the pressure sensor as an elastic deformation of the vessel wall with typical frequencies of less than 3 hz. From the time delay between the heart and time of arrival of the pulse wave, the apparatus the pulse-wave running time and pulse wave velocity as well as the blood pressure. The invention allows the production of light, small, hardly noticeable on the body, which permanently portable measuring devices suitable for the trouble-free measurement during the sleep.
