The invention relates to a method for detecting an object (6) in an environment (5) of a motor vehicle (1), in which sensor data are respectively measured during a current detection cycle by means of a control device (3) of at least two sensors (4) of a driver assistance system (2) are received (S1), which describe the object (6), the respective received sensor data are fused by the control device (3) to fused sensor data (S2) and based on the fused sensor data, the object (6) in the environment (5) is detected in which history data (S3) are provided in addition to the fused sensor data by means of the control device (3), which information on the object (6) determined during at least one previous detection cycle, and additionally detects the object (6) based on the history data becomes (S4).
